Consecrated in 1860, the church was financed by Mrs Sarah Pugh. It now has an award winning modern extension by Hawes Richards. Once know as the “half crown” church, St Thomas’s originally served a small parish of the adjoining streets, a mixture of large mansions, small cottages and farms. Interesting memorials and stained glass recall Southborough inhabitants, including the Colebrooke family with their East India connections. What previous visitors said: A fine exhibition! A very good example of what research can produce. Excellent. |
