Tunbridge Wells Heritage Open Days 2009 - Register Office, 39 Grove Hill Road, TN1 1EP

Register Office, Grove Hill Road

Built in the 1860s, the Mansion House, with many original features, is now the newly restored and elegantly renovated Register Office for Tunbridge Wells. Archive displays trace the building’s history as a private house.

The Register Office made headlines in 1998 when the early morning wedding of the Foreign Secretary Robin Cook succeeded in escaping the attention of the press photographers. Visitors may look round the marriage rooms and learn about the present day function of the office.
