At the end of Holden Park Road, the church was built in 1870 to cater for the expanding Victorian new town area of Southborough. It was known initially as the maids’ church because most of those who attended were poor – the gentry going to St Peter’s on Southborough Common or to St Thomas’s (both also open for Heritage Open Days). In addition to archive material, there will be a prayer labyrinth, (if you don’t know what that is, why not come and find out), displays about the church’s current activities and ministry, as well as information about the planned extension. |
